Congratulations on completing ASME Code Week!
Your dedication to intensive learning demonstrates your commitment to engineering excellence and public safety—core values that define the ASME community. This achievement reflects your investment in professional development and your role in upholding the rigorous standards that have made ASME a globally trusted name in engineering for over 140 years.
This badge is awarded to participants who successfully completed an accredited course offered during ASME Boiler Code Week. Earning this badge signifies active engagement in technical learning aligned with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), as well as a demonstrated commitment to advancing safety, quality, and compliance in engineering practice.
Description of Course:
Applications of Welding is a comprehensive course designed to provide a foundation in welding fundamentals. Throughout this four-day course, you will learn important welding terms and definitions, various types of welds and processes, and the major considerations to consider when designing a weld.
You will also learn about the relationship between AWS, ASME, and API codes and standards, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, and the key elements of a quality welding program.
You Learned To:
Explain common welding terms and definitions
Specify various weld types and nondestructive testing using standard AWS welding symbols
Explain basic ferrous welding metallurgy
Describe post weld heat treatments, residual stresses, and distortion control
Evaluate welding processes typically used to fabricate pressure vessels and piping systems
Clarify the interrelationship between AWS, ASME, and API codes and standards as they relate to pressure vessels, piping systems, and related facilities
Explain welding procedure and performance qualification documentation and methodology applicable to pressure vessels and piping systems.
Identify common weld defects, causes, and corrective actions
Identify major considerations when designing a weld
Identify common NDT used to examine welds
Identify the elements of a cohesive welding program that includes design, purchasing, fabrication, inspections, and delivery
